Overview

H4C4 is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the standard isoform of CD44 (CD44s), a cell surface glycoprotein involved in extracellular matrix adhesion, cell migration, and the maintenance of cancer stem cells. In preclinical studies, particularly those conducted at the University of Kansas, H4C4 has demonstrated the ability to inhibit tumor growth, metastasis, and post-radiotherapy recurrence in pancreatic cancer models. The antibody works by blocking the CD44-STAT3 signaling pathway, which leads to a reduction in the population of cancer initiating cells. While H4C4 is widely recognized and utilized as a research reagent for the detection and study of CD44, it has been investigated as a potential therapeutic agent for malignancies where CD44 expression correlates with poor prognosis.
