Drug intelligence / Profile preview
H5-VLP + GLA-AF is a pandemic influenza vaccine candidate developed by the Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI). It consists of recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) representing the hemagglutinin (HA) of the H5N1 influenza A virus, formulated with GLA-AF, a synthetic Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist adjuvant in an aqueous formulation. The VLPs mimic the structure of the virus but lack genetic material, making them non-infectious while presenting the HA antigen in a native-like conformation to the immune system. The GLA-AF adjuvant enhances the magnitude and breadth of the immune response, particularly Th1-biased cellular immunity and high-titer neutralizing antibodies. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of H5N1 avian influenza infection and is being evaluated for its potential to provide broad protection in a pandemic setting.
