Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The H5N1 avian influenza VLP vaccine is a vaccine candidate developed by Medicago Inc. and the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) for pandemic preparedness against H5N1 avian influenza. It utilizes Medicago's proprietary plant-based virus-like particle (VLP) technology, produced in Nicotiana benthamiana, combined with IDRI's Glucopyranosyl Lipid A (GLA) adjuvant to enhance immune responses. The vaccine aims to provide improved speed of production, immune breadth, and dose efficiency. It has undergone a Phase I clinical trial to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
