H7N9 vaccine + MF59

H7N9 vaccine + MF59 is a monovalent inactivated influenza A/H7N9 virus vaccine combined with the MF59 adjuvant. The vaccine component, developed by Sanofi Pasteur, contains inactivated hemagglutinin from the H7N9 avian influenza virus (specifically the A/Anhui/1/2013 strain). The MF59 adjuvant, originally developed by Novartis and now part of the Seqirus portfolio, is a squalene-based oil-in-water emulsion designed to enhance the magnitude and breadth of the immune response, particularly in older adults or to allow for dose-sparing. This combination has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in providing protection against the H7N9 strain, which is considered a significant pandemic threat.
