Overview

H9N2 (6-2) AA ca Reassortant is a live attenuated influenza vaccine candidate developed using a reassorted avian influenza virus backbone. The "6-2" designation refers to the genetic composition of the virus, with six internal genes derived from an A/Ann Arbor/6/60 cold-adapted (ca) master donor strain and two surface glycoprotein genes—hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA)—from an avian-origin H9N2 virus. This reassortant is designed to induce immunity against potential pandemic strains of avian influenza by presenting novel HA and NA antigens while maintaining attenuation and safety through the internal gene constellation. The vaccine has demonstrated good tolerability and immunogenicity in seronegative individuals but shows restricted replication in humans due to its attenuated nature[1]. It is primarily intended for pandemic preparedness against emerging zoonotic avian influenza viruses.
