Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HAdV5-fib50 (also known as HAdV-5/fib50) is a replication-deficient, first-generation chimeric human adenovirus type 5 vector engineered with the fiber protein of adenovirus serotype 50. Developed as a gene transfer vector, it is primarily used in research to transduce human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) and study cellular differentiation. Studies have shown that transduction with HAdV5-fib50 can stimulate the differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) into pancreatic endocrine-like cells expressing insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin, or into adipocytes, demonstrating that these vectors are not biologically inert and can modulate host cell differentiation pathways.
