Haemagglutinin-strain A(H3N2) refers to the hemagglutinin (HA) surface glycoprotein derived from the influenza A virus subtype H3N2. HA is a class I viral fusion protein responsible for mediating viral entry into host cells by facilitating membrane fusion after endocytosis[3]. The H3N2 subtype is one of the major circulating strains causing seasonal influenza in humans and is included in annual flu vaccines[4][8]. The HA protein undergoes frequent antigenic drift through amino acid substitutions, especially at antigenic sites, allowing the virus to evade immune responses and necessitating regular updates to vaccine strains[1][5][2]. In vaccine formulations, purified or recombinant HA from specific H3N2 strains is used as an active component to induce protective immunity against circulating viruses.
