Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Haemate P (marketed as Humate-P in some regions) is a pasteurized, plasma-derived biologic concentrate containing human von Willebrand factor (VWF) and Factor VIII (FVIII). It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bleeding episodes in patients with von Willebrand disease (VWD), particularly those with moderate-to-severe disease or where desmopressin (DDAVP) is ineffective or contraindicated. It is also used for the treatment of Hemophilia A. The product works by replacing the deficient or dysfunctional VWF and FVIII proteins, thereby restoring platelet adhesion and the intrinsic coagulation pathway. It is manufactured by CSL Behring and has a long history of clinical use with a high hemostatic efficacy rate and a favorable safety profile.
