Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hiberix is a brand name for the Haemophilus b Conjugate Vaccine (Tetanus Toxoid Conjugate), a sterile, lyophilized powder reconstituted with saline for intramuscular injection. It contains purified capsular polysaccharide (polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate [PRP]) from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b covalently bound to tetanus toxoid as a carrier protein. The primary indication is active immunization for the prevention of invasive disease caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b in children aged 6 weeks through 4 years (prior to their fifth birthday). The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against the PRP antigen, conferring protection against invasive Hib disease such as meningitis and sepsis[1][2][3][4][6].
