Haemophilus influenzae b polysaccharide-tetanus conjugate is a vaccine used for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) bacteria, particularly in children. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharide from Hib (polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate, PRP) covalently bound to tetanus toxoid as a carrier protein. This conjugation converts the immune response from T-cell independent to T-cell dependent, resulting in robust antibody production and long-lasting immunity even in infants. The primary indication is the prevention of serious Hib infections such as meningitis, epiglottitis, pneumonia, pericarditis, and septic arthritis. It is administered intramuscularly and recommended for all children between 2 months and 5 years of age[1][2][3][4][5][8].
