Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide meningococcal outer membrane protein conjugate antigen is a vaccine designed to prevent infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), a bacterium responsible for severe diseases such as bacterial meningitis, pneumonia, sepsis, and epiglottitis in young children. The vaccine consists of the Hib capsular polysaccharide chemically linked (conjugated) to an outer membrane protein from Neisseria meningitidis. This conjugation enhances the immune response in infants and young children by promoting T-cell dependent immunity, leading to robust antibody production and long-term protection. The primary indication is prevention of invasive Hib disease in infants and young children; it may also be used in certain older children or adults with specific medical conditions[1][3][7].
