Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b strain 20752 capsular polysaccharide tetanus toxoid conjugate antigen is a conjugate vaccine used for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) in children aged six weeks through four years. The vaccine contains purified polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate (PRP) from Hib strain 20,752 covalently linked to tetanus toxoid protein, which enhances the immune response by converting the T-cell independent bacterial polysaccharide into a T-cell dependent antigen. This results in robust IgG antibody production and immunologic memory against Hib. It is administered intramuscularly as part of a primary series and booster schedule[1][3][5].
