Overview

Hailun is a Mongolian medicine-derived therapeutic, often studied as an injection or a multi-herb formula (Hailun-7), developed by the Inner Mongolia University for Nationalities. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of ischemic stroke and cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. The drug exerts neuroprotective effects by inhibiting neuronal apoptosis, specifically by upregulating the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and downregulating the pro-apoptotic protein Bax. Additionally, it has been shown to reduce the expression of inflammatory markers such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1 beta, thereby mitigating the inflammatory cascade associated with stroke. The traditional Hailun-7 formula consists of seven medicinal ingredients, including *Terminalia chebula*, *Carthamus tinctorius*, and *Phyllanthus emblica*, which work synergistically to improve microcirculation and protect brain tissue.
