Halberd COVID-19 monoclonal antibody is a therapeutic candidate developed by Halberd Corporation in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU). The antibody is designed to target the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and has demonstrated broad-spectrum binding affinity across multiple variants, including Omicron, Delta, and Alpha. In comparative testing, it was shown to be effective against all tested strains and was the only antibody among several biosimilars of FDA-approved products to bind to the Omicron variant. A unique aspect of Halberd's technology is the potential conjugation of these antibodies to metallic nanoparticles for use in an extracorporeal treatment system. In this process, the antibody-nanoparticle complexes bind to viral antigens in the blood, which are then eliminated through laser exposure (extracorporeal photothermolysis). Additionally, the antibody has been shown to enhance the potency of existing commercially available COVID-19 antibodies when used in cocktail formulations.
