Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Halobetasol propionate + tazarotene** is a fixed-dose topical lotion combining halobetasol propionate 0.01%, a high-potency synthetic corticosteroid, with tazarotene 0.045%, a topical retinoid prodrug. Marketed in the United States as **Duobrii**, it is approved for once-daily topical treatment of plaque psoriasis in adults. Halobetasol activates the glucocorticoid receptor to suppress inflammatory and immune signaling, while tazarotene is converted to tazarotenic acid, which activates retinoic acid receptors and modulates gene expression involved in epidermal differentiation, keratinocyte proliferation, and inflammation. The combination was developed as IDP-118 by Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences and subsequently advanced by Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Bausch Health.
