Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Halobetasol propionate 0.05% lotion (code name 000-0551) is a super-high potency topical corticosteroid developed by Therapeutics, Inc. and marketed as Ultravate Lotion. It is indicated for the topical treatment of plaque psoriasis and other corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses in patients 12 years of age and older. The drug functions as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, exerting anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing the immune response in the skin. Unlike the 0.01% formulation (Bryhali), which is applied once daily, the 0.05% lotion is typically applied twice daily for a maximum duration of two weeks.
