Overview

Halometasone is a potent synthetic tri-halogenated corticosteroid for topical application. It is classified as a high-potency (Group III) glucocorticoid and exhibits pronounced anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects by inhibiting the release of various cytokines. Halometasone acts via binding to steroid receptors to modulate protein synthesis and regulate the function of inflammatory cells and lysosomes. This results in reduced inflammation and relief from pruritus. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses such as chronic psoriasis vulgaris and eczematous dermatoses (including eczema and dermatitis), as well as occupational contact dermatitis[1][3][4][5][6][7]. Halometasone has been approved in several European countries (e.g., Spain, Germany) and other regions including China and India[7].
