HaloVax is a proprietary bio-nanoparticle delivery platform and vaccine candidate series developed by Halo-Bio RNAi Therapeutics. The technology utilizes gas vesicles (GVs) derived from the haloarchaeon *Halobacterium salinarum*. These GVs are naturally occurring, hollow, proteinaceous structures that are highly stable and can be engineered to display antigens on their surface or encapsulate therapeutic payloads such as small interfering RNA (siRNA) or short hairpin RNA (shRNA). The platform is designed for oral or systemic delivery, leveraging the inherent stability of GVs to protect payloads from degradation in the gastrointestinal tract or bloodstream. Primary research areas include oncology, where the platform is used to deliver RNAi targeting specific oncogenes, and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, where the GVs serve as both a delivery vehicle for viral antigens and a potential self-adjuvanting system.
