haloxon

Haloxon is an organophosphorus anthelmintic agent used in veterinary medicine, primarily for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal roundworm infections in cattle and other ruminants. It is effective against nematodes such as Haemonchus, Ostertagia, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Strongyloides papillosus, Bunostomum trigonocephalum, and Oesophagostomum venulosum. Haloxon's mechanism of action involves antagonism of cholinesterase enzymes (cholinesterase inhibitor), leading to paralysis and death of susceptible parasites. The drug is more active against adult worms than larval stages for some species. It should not be used concurrently with other cholinesterase-inhibiting agents due to risk of toxicity[1][4][5][7].
