**HAMLET** is an investigational tumoricidal protein-lipid complex composed of partially unfolded human alpha-lactalbumin and oleic acid. It was discovered through research at Lund University and has shown selective cytotoxicity toward a broad range of tumor cells in laboratory, animal, and early human studies. In patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, intravesical HAMLET instillation was associated with tumor-cell shedding, apoptosis-like tumor-cell death, and macroscopic tumor changes, without reported apoptosis in adjacent healthy bladder tissue. HAMLET is distinct from the synthetic alpha1-lactalbumin peptide-oleate complex Alpha1H or alpha1-oleate, which is a later-generation clinical candidate.
