Overview

This experimental combination therapy is being investigated by the University of Minnesota for the treatment of HIV infection. It involves the adoptive transfer of HLA-haploidentical natural killer (NK) cells that have been activated with nogapendekin alfa inbakicept (N-803). Nogapendekin alfa inbakicept is a recombinant interleukin-15 (IL-15) superagonist protein complex consisting of an IL-15 mutant (IL-15N72D) bound to an IL-15 receptor α/IgG1 Fc fusion protein. The therapeutic strategy utilizes N-803 to enhance the proliferation and cytotoxic activity of the donor NK cells, which are then infused into HIV-infected individuals on stable antiretroviral therapy (ART). The primary goal of this Phase 1 pilot study is to evaluate the safety of the approach and its potential impact on reducing the latent viral reservoir.
