Overview

Hartifrin is an oral sympathomimetic agent containing etilefrine hydrochloride, developed and manufactured by Cid Pharmaceutical Industries (Chemical Industries Development) in Egypt. It acts as a potent adrenergic agonist with affinity for alpha-1, beta-1, and to a lesser extent, beta-2 adrenergic receptors. By stimulating these receptors, etilefrine increases myocardial contractility and cardiac output while simultaneously inducing peripheral vasoconstriction, which collectively results in an increase in systemic blood pressure. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of various forms of hypotension, including orthostatic hypotension and circulatory collapse.
