Hartikol Plus

Hartikol Plus is an oral over-the-counter cardiovascular support dietary supplement marketed by PharmaS for maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, normal heart function, and normal homocysteine metabolism. It is a multi-ingredient nutraceutical formulation containing fermented red rice extract standardized to provide monacolin K, artichoke leaf extract standardized to cynarin, choline, thiamin, and folic acid. Its putative lipid-support activity is driven primarily by monacolin K, a lovastatin-like HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces endogenous cholesterol synthesis, while artichoke extract is intended to support hepatic cholesterol handling and triglyceride reduction; choline, thiamin, and folic acid are included for support of lipid metabolism, cardiac function, and homocysteine metabolism.
