Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HB-086 is a recombinant human form of the neurotrophic factor meteorin being developed as a first-in-class, non-opioid, peripherally acting analgesic for chronic neuropathic pain conditions, including chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and other peripheral neuropathies. HB-086 is an endogenous, nervous-system–restricted secreted protein of approximately 31 kDa that promotes neurite outgrowth and glial differentiation, normalizes impaired neuron–glia crosstalk, and supports protection, recovery, and regeneration of damaged sensory neurons and fibers, leading to reversal and prevention of neuropathic pain with long-lasting effects after short systemic exposure.[1][5][7][8][9][12]
