Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HB-097 is a recombinant human cometin biologic being developed by Hoba Therapeutics as a restorative pharmacological treatment for sensorineural hearing loss, with an initial focus on ototoxic hearing loss. Preclinical studies show that locally applied HB-097 exerts neurotrophic and protective effects on inner-ear sensory neurons and supporting cells, preventing hearing loss by protecting nerve cells and promoting regeneration that can reverse already induced damage. As part of a novel family of endogenous neurotrophic factors related to meteorin and cometin, HB-097 aims to modify disease by normalizing impaired neuronal–glial crosstalk and supporting survival and repair of sensory pathways in the inner ear.
