Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HB-102 is an investigational non-replicating arenavirus-based vaccine candidate developed by Hookipa Pharma in collaboration with Gilead Sciences for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. Utilizing Hookipa's proprietary Vaxwave® platform, HB-102 is based on a lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) vector engineered to express HBV-specific antigens, including core and surface proteins. The vaccine is designed to induce a robust T-cell response to target and eliminate HBV-infected cells, aiming for a functional cure. While HB-102 served as the initial lead in the HBV program, the collaboration has since advanced a replicating arenavirus candidate, HB-500 (TheraT® platform), into clinical trials.
