Overview

HB-202 is a therapeutic cancer vaccine developed as part of an alternating 2-vector immunotherapy regimen (often in combination with HB-201) for the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers, particularly HPV16-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. It utilizes a replicating arenavirus vector (Pichinde virus; PICV) engineered to express a non-oncogenic but highly immunogenic fusion protein derived from the E6 and E7 proteins of HPV16. The therapy is designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack tumor cells expressing these viral antigens. Preclinical studies have shown strong immunogenicity and robust antitumor activity. Clinical trials have demonstrated that both monotherapy with HB-201 and alternating therapy with HB-201/HB-202 are generally well-tolerated and show preliminary antitumor activity in heavily pre-treated patients[1][2][3][5].
