Overview

HB-501 is a genetically engineered replicating viral vector based on the arenavirus lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus. It delivers HIV antigens derived from highly conserved regions of HIV type 1 (HIV-1) proteins, specifically targeting clade B variants. Developed by Hookipa Biotech, HB-501 is used in combination with HB-502 (based on Pichinde virus) as an alternating 2-vector therapy. This therapy aims to stimulate the immune system in people living with HIV who are already receiving antiretroviral treatment, enhancing their immune response against the virus.
