Overview

HB-502 is an arenavirus-based viral vector therapy developed by HOOKIPA Pharma for the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). It utilizes a proprietary arenavirus platform (specifically a Pichinde virus vector) engineered to express HIV-1 antigens, including Gag, Pol, and Nef. HB-502 is designed to be used in a heterologous prime-boost regimen alongside HB-501 (a Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus vector) to induce high-magnitude, polyfunctional CD8+ T cell responses. This approach aims to achieve immune-mediated control of viral replication and potentially provide a functional cure for HIV in patients currently suppressed on antiretroviral therapy (ART).
