Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HB Vax Pro + Vaqta is a co-administered vaccine combination used for active immunization against hepatitis A and hepatitis B infections. It consists of two separate vaccines given concomitantly: HB Vax Pro, a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine containing hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) produced in *Saccharomyces cerevisiae* yeast, and Vaqta, an inactivated whole-virus hepatitis A vaccine. Developed by Sanofi Pasteur MSD (now part of MSD), these vaccines are typically administered via intramuscular injection at separate sites. The combination works by stimulating the immune system to produce protective neutralizing antibodies against both the hepatitis A virus and the hepatitis B virus surface antigen, providing comprehensive protection for individuals at risk of exposure to both pathogens.
