Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HB03 is a live biotherapeutic product (LBT) consisting of the gut bacterium *Akkermansia muciniphila*, developed by the South Korean biotechnology company HealthBiome. Originating as a startup from the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), HealthBiome is positioning HB03 to modulate the host microbiome and its associated immune and metabolic pathways. The drug is primarily being developed for oncology applications, where it is intended to be used either as a monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Preclinical studies have explored its efficacy across various malignancies, including colorectal, lung, pancreatic, melanoma, glioblastoma, and sarcoma. Beyond oncology, HB03 is also being investigated for its potential in treating metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.
