Overview

HB05 is a bacteriotherapy developed by HealthBiome, utilizing a specific strain of *Akkermansia muciniphila* (HB05) originally isolated from the breast milk of healthy Korean women. The product is developed both as a live biotherapeutic and as a postbiotic formulation known as HB05P. HB05P is created through a proprietary pasteurization process that heat-kills the bacteria while maintaining its functional properties, thereby enhancing safety and stability compared to live probiotic products. The mechanism of action involves modulating the gut microbiome and host metabolic and neuromuscular pathways. Clinical research has demonstrated that HB05P can significantly improve muscle strength and peak torque in elderly populations, specifically targeting sarcopenia. It is also being investigated for its potential in treating cognitive function disorders and metabolic diseases.
