Overview

hbFGF gel is a topical recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rhbFGF) formulation developed by Yaogu (Wenzhou) Technology Development. It is currently in Phase II clinical development in China for the treatment of deep second-degree burns. The drug functions by binding to fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), triggering signaling pathways that promote the proliferation and migration of fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, and keratinocytes. This activity accelerates granulation tissue formation and re-epithelialization, which are critical for wound healing and reducing recovery time in burn patients. In clinical trials, it is being evaluated for safety, efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity compared to existing lyophilized powder formulations of rhbFGF.
