Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HBV-MPL vaccine Formulation A is a recombinant hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine formulated with 3-O-deacylated monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) as an adjuvant. MPL is a detoxified derivative of lipopolysaccharide from *Salmonella enterica* and acts as a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist, stimulating dendritic cells and promoting Th1-type immune responses[6]. The formulation typically includes purified hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), MPL, and may also contain aluminum phosphate as an additional adjuvant[5]. This combination enhances both humoral and cellular immunity against HBV, leading to strong antibody production and persistent CD4(+) T-cell responses[1][2]. The primary indication is prophylactic immunization against hepatitis B infection.
