Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HBVZ10 is an adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8) vector-based gene therapy candidate developed by HBVtech for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is designed to deliver human anti-hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) antibody genes to skeletal muscle cells, enabling sustained, high-level endogenous production of neutralizing anti-HBs antibodies. By continuously neutralizing extracellular virions and reducing the circulating HBsAg burden, HBVZ10 blocks de novo infection and prevents the replenishment of the intrahepatic covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) pool. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that combining HBVZ10 with the nucleoside analog entecavir leads to significant synergistic reductions in hepatic cccDNA and relaxed circular DNA (rcDNA), promoting HBsAg seroclearance.
