HBW-004285 is a novel, orally administered small molecule inhibitor targeting the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (Sodium channel protein type 8 subunit alpha). Developed by Hyperway Pharmaceutical (also known as Shenzhen Haibowei Pharmaceutical and Chengdu Haibowei Pharmaceutical), it is positioned as a non-addictive analgesic for the treatment of pain. Preclinical and clinical data indicate that HBW-004285 offers rapid absorption, dose-proportional exposure, superior pharmacokinetics, faster onset of action, longer-lasting analgesic effects, and a higher safety margin compared to VX-548—a leading competitor in this class. Phase I trials in healthy volunteers demonstrated good tolerability with only mild adverse events and no significant accumulation or gender differences in pharmacokinetics.
