Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HC-15 is a potent blocking monoclonal antibody that targets heparin-binding epidermal growth factor (HB-EGF), a member of the EGF family overexpressed in various human cancers. Developed by Forerunner Pharma Research and Chugai Pharmaceutical, HC-15 recognizes both the membrane-anchored (pro-HB-EGF) and soluble (s-HB-EGF) forms of the growth factor. By blocking the binding of HB-EGF to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and HER4 (ErbB4), HC-15 inhibits downstream signaling pathways that drive tumor cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. In preclinical studies, the antibody demonstrated significant antitumor activity in xenograft models of ovarian, pancreatic, and breast cancers.
