HC002

HC002 is an investigational, orally bioavailable small molecule drug developed by Holoclara. It is based on molecules originally identified in roundworms (nematodes) that inhabit the human gut, but the compound itself is chemically synthesized and does not contain live worms. HC002 represents a first-in-class approach leveraging worm-derived molecular mechanisms to modulate immune responses, with the aim of treating allergic and autoimmune disorders. The lead indication for HC002 is eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by elevated eosinophils in the esophagus, but preclinical data suggest potential across multiple autoimmune and allergic diseases. The drug is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy adults[1][4][6][8].
