HC106 is an allogeneic cell therapy product consisting of expanded mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from adipose tissue. Developed by the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de la Fundación Jiménez Díaz, it is currently being investigated for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women, particularly those over the age of 50. The therapeutic approach involves the local, endoscopic injection of the cell suspension into the external urinary sphincter under cystoscopic guidance. The mechanism of action relies on the regenerative and immunomodulatory properties of MSCs, which are thought to promote the repair of the urethral sphincter muscle and surrounding connective tissues through paracrine signaling and potential differentiation, thereby improving urethral closure pressure and reducing incontinent episodes.
