Overview

HCC antigens-specific CD8+ T lymphocytes is an experimental autologous adoptive cell therapy developed by Beijing YouAn Hospital for the treatment of relapsed or advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The therapy involves isolating a patient's own CD8+ T cells and using human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-peptide multimers to select for cells specific to three key tumor-associated antigens: Glypican-3 (GPC3), Cancer/testis antigen 1 (NY-ESO-1), and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). These selected T cells are expanded in vitro and re-infused into the patient. This approach aims to leverage the cytotoxic potential of T cells to selectively target and eliminate tumor cells expressing these antigens. In clinical trial settings, this therapy is often administered in combination with interleukin-2 (IL-2) to support T-cell persistence and Tegafur to potentially enhance the anti-tumor environment.
