**hCD47-pSGNs** are a preclinical, antibody-targeted photothermal nanotherapeutic consisting of pegylated silica-core gold nanoshells covalently conjugated to an anti-human CD47 monoclonal antibody. The anti-CD47 component directs the nanoshells to CD47-expressing ovarian cancer cells in the peritoneal cavity; subsequent external near-infrared laser irradiation heats the gold nanoshells and produces localized hyperthermia and photoablation. In mouse models of intraperitoneal ovarian cancer, repeated intraperitoneal administration and noninvasive near-infrared irradiation eliminated tumors without reported normal-tissue injury. The construct has not been identified as a branded, clinical-stage product or as a program owned by a commercial pharmaceutical company.
