hCTP (hybrid cardiac targeting peptide) is a synthetic 12-amino acid cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) developed by researchers at the Mayo Clinic. It is a modified version of the original cardiac targeting peptide (CTP), featuring D-enantiomer substitutions at positions 3 and 11 to enhance serum stability and biological activity. hCTP exhibits dual pro-regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties; it promotes the migration, proliferation, and angiogenic potential of dermal fibroblasts while simultaneously inhibiting TNF-α-mediated NF-κB inflammatory signaling. The peptide is currently being investigated as a potential therapeutic for chronic diabetic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, and other NF-κB-driven inflammatory skin disorders.
