Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HCVIVA is a research-stage vaccine candidate currently in preclinical development for the prevention and treatment of chronic Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The project is a collaborative effort between **AJ Vaccines**, serving as the commercial partner, and academic researchers led by Professor Judith Gottwein at **Hvidovre Hospital**. Funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark, the program aims to develop the first effective vaccine against HCV, a virus for which no vaccine currently exists despite the availability of curative direct-acting antivirals. As of mid-2025, the project is in the research phase with a projected timeline to enter human clinical trials within four to six years.
