HD-6277 is a novel, orally available small molecule agonist of G protein-coupled receptor 40 (GPR40, also known as free fatty acid receptor 1 or FFAR1), developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. HD-6277 has demonstrated potent and selective activity in both in vitro and in vivo studies, showing significant reductions in HbA1c and fasting plasma glucose levels compared to placebo. Clinical trials have shown that it is safe and well tolerated. The drug is being developed by Hyundai Pharm/Hyundai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., with phase 2 clinical trials completed for patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by diet and exercise[1][2][4][5][6].
