Overview
The HD-MAP seasonal influenza vaccine is a needle-free, quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4) delivered via Vaxxas' proprietary High-Density Microarray Patch (HD-MAP) technology. The patch consists of an ultra-high-density array of micro-projections that deliver split inactivated influenza virus antigens directly to the immune-cell-rich layers of the skin. This delivery method is designed to enhance immunogenicity compared to traditional intramuscular injection while offering advantages such as thermostability (stable at 40°C for 12 months) and the potential for self-administration. The vaccine targets four strains of influenza (two A and two B) and is currently in Phase I clinical development for the prevention of seasonal influenza in healthy adults.
