Overview

HD1916 is a semaglutide biosimilar being developed by CSPC Baike (Shandong) Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, for the treatment of obesity. As a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, it mimics the action of the endogenous GLP-1 hormone to regulate appetite and caloric intake. The drug is a biologic peptide administered via once-weekly subcutaneous injection. It is currently in Phase III clinical development (NCT06604624), where its efficacy and safety are being compared to the originator semaglutide in non-diabetic adults with a BMI of 28 kg/m² or greater.
