HE-33 is a small molecule cyclic-AMP (cAMP) derivative developed by Immune Modulation, Inc. (IMI Pharma) for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. It functions by modulating the cyclic-AMP signaling pathway, which is a critical regulator of immune cell activity and cytokine production. By influencing this pathway, HE-33 aims to exert immunomodulatory effects that could be beneficial in managing complex immune-mediated conditions. Currently in the preclinical stage, the drug is being investigated for its potential therapeutic efficacy in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Graft-Versus-Host Disease (GvHD).
