Overview

Heat-killed Bifidobacterium bifidum CBT-BF3 is a postbiotic (paraprobiotic) preparation developed by Cell Biotech Co. Ltd. derived from the probiotic strain Bifidobacterium bifidum CBT-BF3 (KCTC 12199BP). The preparation involves heat-treating the live bacteria at 121°C for 20 minutes to inactivate the cells while retaining biological activity. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of atopic dermatitis by modulating the gut-skin axis. Its mechanism involves regulating immune responses, specifically by decreasing the expression of Th2 and Th17 cell transcription factors and cytokines while increasing regulatory T cell (Treg) markers, thereby suppressing allergic inflammation.
