Overview

Heat-killed Lactobacillus salivarius subsp. salicinius AP-32 is a postbiotic therapeutic developed by Bioflag Biotech. The active ingredient is the heat-inactivated bacterial strain *L. salivarius* subsp. *salicinius* AP-32, which was originally isolated from the healthy human gut. This biologic is formulated as oral tablets or lozenges for oral health applications. Its mechanism involves modulating the oral microbiome and local immunity by increasing salivary IgA concentration through IL-10 and TGF-beta mediated immune responses. This action helps to inhibit oral pathogens such as *Streptococcus mutans*, *Porphyromonas gingivalis*, and *Fusobacterium nucleatum*, and it has also shown activity against *Helicobacter pylori*. As a heat-killed preparation, it offers advantages over live probiotics, including enhanced stability and an improved safety profile.
