Overview

**Heat shock protein 27 small interfering RNA** refers to experimental **small interfering RNA molecules directed against heat shock protein 27**, also known as **heat shock protein beta-1** encoded by **HSPB1**. These agents are RNA interference therapeutics or research reagents designed to reduce HSP27 mRNA and thereby suppress HSP27 protein expression. HSP27 is a stress-response chaperone implicated in tumor cell survival, treatment resistance, and progression, particularly in prostate cancer models. In the literature, HSP27-directed siRNA has mainly been described as a **preclinical target-specific research intervention** rather than a single well-defined clinical drug product, in contrast to the clinically developed antisense oligonucleotide apatorsen. Reported use has focused on experimental oncology settings such as prostate cancer and glioma cell models, where HSP27 knockdown was associated with reduced growth and enhanced apoptosis or treatment sensitivity.
